How to transcribe WhatsApp voice messages on iPhone

Updated on October 25, 2026

On iPhone, you save the voice message to the Files app and then pick it on the site. Three steps in WhatsApp, two here, and nothing to install. The tool lives on the WhatsApp audio to text page.

Why not through Share

On Android, the installed site shows up in the Share menu. On iPhone it can’t: iOS doesn’t let websites appear there, not even ones added to the Home Screen. So on iPhone the path goes through Files.

1. Save the voice message to Files

  1. In WhatsApp, open the chat and press and hold the voice message.
  2. Tap Forward.
  3. Tap the share icon at the bottom, then Save to Files.
  4. Pick a folder (On My iPhone or iCloud Drive) and tap Save.

The file ends in .opus. Your iPhone may not play that format, but the site opens it fine.

2. Pick it on the site

  1. Open pegafala.com.br in Safari.
  2. Tap Choose audio. The iPhone shows three options: Photo Library, Take Photo or Video and Choose File.
  3. Tap Choose File and find the message in the folder where you saved it.

The upload starts on its own. A 1-minute message takes about 30 seconds. When the text appears, tap Copy text.

If the file doesn’t show up

  • You opened Photo Library. Audio isn’t stored with photos. Go back and tap Choose File.
  • Wrong folder. In Files, tap Browse and search for part of the date or for “opus”.
  • It’s greyed out. Tap Browse, then Recents: a file you just saved is usually at the top.

Long messages

Up to 5 minutes comes out in full. Longer messages get a first-minute preview, and the screen asks before uploading. To transcribe the rest, trim the part you need: see how to trim and shrink an audio file.

Several messages from one chat

Save each one to Files and send them one at a time. Each uses 1 of 4 transcripts every 15 minutes. Paste the texts into your notes in order.

What happens to the audio

The audio goes to our server, is transcribed and deleted right after. The text goes only to your iPhone and disappears when you close the tab. The copy you saved in Files stays on your phone: delete it there if you don’t need it.
